As the Solution Architect for SpinifexIT in the European region, Brendon Andrews-Warmuth has spent over a decade helping SAP HCM and SuccessFactors customers maximize the value of their HR and payroll investments. With extensive experience advising industry leaders—ranging from Australia’s largest retailer to Germany’s top-performance car maker—he’s known for his deep understanding of digital technologies, analytics, and business processes.

By participating in the Product-Led Growth Certified: Core in-person course, Brendon sought to further refine his expertise and drive even greater value through product-led strategies.

Let’s hear what he had to say about the experience,

Discovering PLA

I was invited to one of the courses through LinkedIn after connecting with various people from The Alliance. The course offered good content that I'm interested in, so I couldn’t resist.

The presenter who ran the course was very valuable. It was great to speak to him openly about his theory and practical knowledge of the course content. He was able to answer difficult questions about how things actually works in reality, especially in my situation. His personalized insights were really good conversations.

Diversity

Because we had quite a diverse group in terms of audience—different people, different companies at different stages— he was able to talk to all of us. I found it quite valuable to get ideas from those other attendees. Where are they on their journey? What parts have they applied? What have they not applied? What's been working, what's not working. That was very valuable.

I'm not deep in the community, but reflecting on what other companies are doing differently was incredibly beneficial.

Putting knowledge into action

London's not too far away for me, so being able to attend in person, even when I couldn’t commit a huge amount of time to it, was a huge factor. I could access a lot of content and good information, so this course was a great option.

I'm still processing everything I learned and figuring out how to apply it. But some of the insights, especially the fact that product isn’t an all-or-nothing approach, really opened my eyes.

As an established business, we don't have the luxury of saying we're just going to flip the switch and become a completely product-led growth business. We have to figure out how to merge our existing sales-led approach and transition parts of other products to the product-led approach. We have to look at the different variations of that approach, and what are the most important things to understand?

If I want to take a certain part of PLG and narrow in on that, what are the things I need to focus on? That's the learning that I took away the most. I need to bounce these ideas off some of my colleagues in the team to see how we can apply everything.

Our CEO wants us as a business to go in the PLG direction. So, taking this course will definitely impact certain executive leadership team members to be more on board with these ideas or at least bring structure to these ideas.

Networking

I unfortunately wasn't able to stay after the event, because I was traveling in and out just for the day, but I still enjoyed meeting the people. There was a diverse mix of different people at different places in their PLG journey. It was really good to hear their different perspectives and connect with those people as well.

Professional growth

The networking will positively impact me because I was able to connect with the instructor. He's someone I can learn a lot from, personally and professionally, in terms of moving my career toward product management and product-led growth. That's incredibly valuable.

Access to the PLA community and the information they provide has leveraged my future professional career. There's a ton of great content, fantastic resources, networking, and different people to talk to and learn from.

It was a very positive experience for me. I really enjoyed it. I thought the content was really good, the instructor was great, the networking was great. No complaints. Thank you, PLA.
